“Weird Al Yankovic,” the foremost song parodist of the MTV era, will host a special book signing in Mission Viejo September 22 for his new children’s book, “My New Teacher and Me.”
The book signing is from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Norman P. Murray Community and Senior Center, 24932 Veterans Way. Book sales begin at 9 a.m.
“Weird Al” Yankovic’s new tale of Billy, the irrepressible star of the New York Times bestselling “When I Grow Up,” is an uproarious back-to-school delight and Weird Al’s second children’s picture book. Dazzling wordplay and sparkling rhyme combine in a unique appreciation of the rewards of unabashed originality and the special joy of viewing the world gently askew.
“Weird Al” is best known to millions as America’s leading satirist of popular music and culture. He carried the torch of musical humor more proudly and more successfully than any performer. During his career, which spans three decades, Weird Al has won three Grammy Awards and sold more comedy albums than anyone else in history. He maintains a busy touring and recording schedule. This children’s book adds to his already impressive resume.
The event is a “ticketed” book signing, and only “My New Teacher and Me” books purchased at the event will receive a ticket for the signing.
“Weird Al’s” Mission Viejo appearance follows a string of celebrity and bestselling authors including Henry Winkler, Molly Shannon, Linda Evans and others to appear in this South County city.
