The City of Mission Viejo has teamed up with the American Cancer Society to host enrollment for folks interested in participating in a lifesaving study from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. on October 25 and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on October 27 at the Norman P. Murray Community and Senior Center, 24932 Veterans Way.
The primary focus of CPS-3 study is to better understand the lifestyle, environmental, and genetic factors that cause or prevent cancer and, ultimately, to help eliminate cancer as a major health concern for future generations. Folks willing to make a 20-to-30-year commitment to the study who are between 30 and 65 and have never been diagnosed with cancer (excluding basal cell and squamous cell skin cancer) may qualify. Although this is a long study, the time commitment is small, and once enrolled the study just requires participants to complete surveys every couple of years. Appointments take about 20-30 minutes. Participating in this study is a chance to help the American Cancer Society understand what causes cancer and how to prevent it, so lives can be saved and a world with less cancer and more birthdays can exist.
