More than 200 volunteers helped to remove roughly 400 pounds of trash along Oso Creek during Mission Viejo’s 11th Inner Coastal Clean Up Day on Saturday.
Mission Viejo’s clean-up site was one of more than 800 sites throughout the state and one of more than 50 sites in Orange County. Inner Coastal Clean Up Day is an event focused on community, and residents showed their passion for volunteerism and penchant for the environment once again.
Armed with trash bags, and sunscreen, volunteers from the Nadadores, Presbyterian Church of the Masters, Boy Scout Troop Pack 702 and other groups and individuals braved the heat and scoured about a mile of Oso Creek picking up everything from plastic bags, beverage cans, cigarettes, and paint cans to food wrappers, containers, a soccer ball and five shopping carts. They even picked up a car battery and a sofa. The volunteers embraced a spirit of camaraderie, and the City is truly grateful to them all for making a difference in the community.
