The public is invited to enjoy “A Look at the History of Mission San Juan Capistrano,” an illustrated fine art lecture by Jean Stern on Friday, September 14.
The fascinating free lecture, sponsored by the Saddleback Art League, is at 7 p.m. in the City Council Chamber at 200 Civic Center.
Stern, a recognized authority on California Impressionism and art history, will reveal the numerous changes that have taken place at the Capistrano Mission throughout its art documented history. He will regale folks with interesting stories and significant works of art as he details the volatile past of what is now known as “The Jewel of the Missions.”
From beginning to end, the lecture will focus on the turmoil and strife; the fear and uncertainty; and the pleasure and satisfaction felt at the time forever captured in art.
