Save the date for the 4th Annual Readers’ Festival on Sunday, October 14. This spectacular event brings books to life and families and individuals together for a fun-filled, memorable day.
The Readers’ Festival features celebrity and bestselling authors, book signings, entertainment, fabulous fare and much more. This year’s exciting lineup includes well-known authors Molly Ringwald, Jim Abbott, Marcia Clark, David Shannon, Steven Raichlen and others.
The festival will celebrate the middle ages, transforming the Village Green back to a time when knights engaged in combat; and falcons, blacksmithing and archery were common play.
Visitors of all ages will enjoy a host of free activities. The “Queens College” will boast interactive crafts for kids linked to stories from the Middle Ages. Over at Robin Hood’s pavilion, boys will make Renaissance-style hats, and girls will create Maid Marion flower garlands. There will be falconry demonstrations, sword fighting, catapult launching, battling men and crafts for all ages. A live chess game on a life-size chess board, music and a fashion show will appeal to many. Festival-goers are encouraged to come dressed for the theme.
The free festival, which is sponsored by the Friends of the Mission Viejo Library, is from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Oso Viejo Park and Norman P. Murray Community and Senior Center, 24932 Veterans Way. With convenient, free shuttle service from the Mission Viejo Library at 100 Civic Center, parking is a breeze.
Volunteers are sought to help in an array of positions. For more information about volunteering, contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
