The community came out in force this summer to support its adopted troops, helping to raise nearly $10,000 in three car-wash fundraisers. Despite sweltering 103-degree heat on Saturday, community members helped to raise $3,083 in the final car-wash fundraiser of the year at the Mission Viejo Civic Center.
Hosted by the City’s Marines & Sailors Adoption Committee, Saturday’s car wash attracted 114 cars and residents who were only too happy to support the cause. They chatted with 73 Marines who washed their cars and enjoyed pancakes, bacon and hot dogs served up by the Mission Viejo Activities Committee.
The proceeds from all three summer fundraising events will help support programs and services for members of the Headquarters Battalion of the 1st Marine Division. The City is grateful to this community for its endless support of Mission Viejo’s adopted troops. For more information, call 949-470-3061.
