Authorities believe an elderly woman accidentally drove her car into the post of a building on Marguerite Parkway today.
The accident happened just before noon at 28752 Marguerite Parkway near a shoe repair store. The woman, who is in her 70s, apparently hit the gas rather than the brake and drove through a post that supports part of the building and its deck, which has started to sag. Three suites were affected and the area was cautioned off until it can be safely supported. No one was injured.
The City’s Building Department mailed a notice to building’s owner/ property manager letting them know they need to obtain a building permit to demolish the rest of the post that is still dangling. As soon as the owner can show that the building has been temporarily shored up, the three displaced tenants will be able to reoccupy their suites.
