If you have ever dreamt of being a stand-up comedian, now’s your chance. Mission Viejo stand-up comedian Tom Riehl will host another session of his Stand-up Comedy Workshop this month.
Whether you’re a “newbie” who has never been on stage or a comedian who just wants to add “more funny” to your set, these workshops offer something for everyone. The six-week program teaches students basic joke-writing skills, stage technique, minimizing stage fright, and how to handle hecklers. Along with a beginning workshop, Riehl also offers one for folks who currently perform stand-up and are just looking to improve their acts. Students end the course by performing in a “graduation showcase” in front of family and friends.
Riehl has worked with the likes of Bob Saget, Paula Poundstone, Alonzo Bodden, Shawn Wayans, and James P. Connolly as well as musical acts Berlin, Three Dog Night and David Pack of Ambrosia. The veteran comedian was also a winner on ABC’s “America’s Funniest People” and recently won “Best Clean Comic” at the Eagle Rock Comedy Festival.
The beginning class starts on August 14, with the intermediate class starting the day before at the Camino Real Playhouse in San Juan Capistrano.
