The Mission Viejo Pony 8 and under team has won game one of the Pony World Series in San Jose, California. The All-star team won the game 11-0 in four innings.
Starting pitcher Connor Dietsch pitched two strong innings striking out five batters. His twin brother Cole hit a solo home run in the second inning and the bats for Mission Viejo were on.
The next game is today at 5 p.m. against a team from Blossom Valley. The Pony World Series runs through Sunday.
The team’s ascent to the World Series follows its victory at the Southern California Super Regional Championship on July 15. Mission Viejo beat all the top teams from Southern California and is now facing the division winners from Hawaii, Northern California, Arizona and 13 other Western United States.
The City of Mission Viejo congratulates this team of dedicated young players who have made this City proud!
