A 21-year-old man was in custody Wednesday after robbing two residents of their cell phones at knifepoint.
Scott Phillip Liedel responded to two Craigslist ads from separate people seeking to sell their high-end cell phones. He arranged to see the first victim in Lake Forest and robbed him at knifepoint. An hour later, he met the second Craigslist poster in the area of Ridgemark and Pobladores in Mission Viejo and robbed him of the phone at knifepoint. Both robberies happened before 6 p.m.
Sheriff’s patrol and investigations immediately sprung into action and with the help of the cell phone companies were able to track Liedel to his girlfriend’s home in Lake Forest where he was arrested and the stolen property was recovered.
