The City is gearing up for its Community Health Fair on Friday, July 13. The fair, which takes place during the Mission Viejo Farmers Market, will feature a wealth of things to encourage a healthy and fit lifestyle.
With more than 25 exhibitors like the City of Mission Viejo Recreation & Tennis Centers, Trader Joes, LA Fitness, Mission Hospital, YMCA and Walgreens, the event will feature invaluable information; massage therapy; shingles and whooping cough immunizations; and blood pressure, glucose and electronic body fat testing. Folks should sport their favorite fitness attire to take part in free fitness demonstrations, and the event will feature a preview showing of “The Weight of a Nation,” a new HBO film on the obesity epidemic. Speakers will follow up with information on nutrition and diabetes. There will be crafts for kids; cooking demonstrations; and a photo booth. Doctors from Mission Hospital will be on hand to answer health-related questions.
The Community Health Fair will complement the Mission Viejo Farmers Market, which offers an abundance of healthy produce and fare to the community each Friday.
The fair will take place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Civic Center Kershaw Gardens at 200 Civic Center. For more information, call 859-4348 x5723.

Will the Mission Hospital doctors be giving the Shingle shots or will we need a prescription from our family doctor?
The shingles vaccine is $219.99 and the whooping cough vaccine is $69.99. They can be paid for by either cash or check made out to Walgreens.
Blood pressure, glucose testing, and electronic body fat testing are all free.
