Middle school students interested in having fun and challenging their skills are invited to register for the Middle School Summer Chess Club at the Thomas R. Potocki Center, 27301 La Paz Road.
The first session of the club is on Wednesdays from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. June 27 through July 25 (course #2861). The second session (course #2863) is on Mondays from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. July 30 through Aug. 27.
Chess is a two-player board game played on a chessboard, a square checkered board with 64 squares arranged in an eight-by-eight grid. It is one of the world’s most popular games, played by millions of people worldwide at home, in clubs, online, by correspondence, and in tournaments. The “Academic Chess” staff bring the game to life with exciting lessons, puzzles and exercises. A chess tournament takes place at the end of class where children can earn medals and prizes.
