When you drop by the Mission Viejo Farmers Market on Friday get ready to kick up your heels and also enjoy some “meditation in motion.”
Along with strolling the rows of fresh produce and unique products, patrons can learn how to line dance like a pro with instructor Mel Branham, who will offer a free demonstration from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Mel teaches a fun-filled class at the Norman P. Community and Senior Center every Wednesday. He teaches beginner ($4) and intermediate ($5) classes at 9 a.m. and 10 a.m.
Following Mel’s “boot-scootin” demo, instructor Eva Schmidler at 10:30 a.m. will lead a free Tai Chi demonstration of the graceful form of exercise that’s sometimes described as meditation in motion. She also teaches the free class, which promotes serenity through gentle movements, at the community center every Monday and Friday at 9 a.m. and 10:30 a.m.
The Mission Viejo Farmers Market is from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. each Friday in the Civic Center courtyard at 200 Civic Center. For more information, visit http://cityofmissionviejo.org/farmersmarket/.

great, wonderful, sounds like fun, would love to come however with this Farmers Market excluding most of the residence who just happen to have jobs and can not just take off during the day to go to the market from 9am to 1pm its just pointless. Not sure who thinks having this Farmer Market on a Friday during the early morning/afternoon is beneficial to the majority of the residence, it in fact actually excludes them and makes most of us feel left out, how hard is it to have this market on the weekend not only would this help the vendors this would also benefit the hard working residence in the area to not only get to shop the vendor carts but also be included in these additional demonstrations…SMH
Thanks so much for your post. We do appreciate it. Unfortunately the reason we have it on Friday mornings is because this is the one day the library is closed and the parking lot at the Civic Center is less used. The same issue exist at the Community Center with all of the events on the weekend it makes it difficult to host the market there. Additionally there are other Farmers Markets on Thursday mornings and Friday mornings in other surrounding communities that have thrived for several years. We agree the weekend would be great but given the scheduling constraints Friday mornings were the most appropriate time to be held at a city facility.
