The Mission Viejo Animal Service Center – along with animal shelters throughout Orange County – is offering reduced adoption fees for senior citizens during the month of May. In conjunction with the Orange County Office on Aging and “Older Americans Month,” Super Senior May is the perfect opportunity for seniors to visit their local animal shelter to find that new forever friend.
The Mission Viejo Animal Services Center will waive $100 off the adoption fees to any senior age 62+ who adopts a cat or dog that’s 5 years or older. The normal cat adoption fee is $150 and the fee for dogs is $180. All dogs and cats are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, and micro-chipped.
There are proven benefits of pet ownership. Pets can lower blood pressure and anxiety, alleviate depression, help their owners cope with stress and enrich their owners’ lives by offering unconditional love. There are also added benefits to adopting senior pets. They are much less likely to destroy furniture and household objects since they are past the chewing, scratching and digging stage. They also require a lot less work than puppies and kittens.
