The public is invited to enjoy “The Miracle Worker” on Sunday, April 15 at City Hall as part of a free movie series sponsored by the City’s Community of Character Committee. The PG-rated film begins at 2:00 p.m. and highlights “service,” Mission Viejo’s character quality for the month of April.
The film relates the true story of young Helen Keller – blind, deaf, and mute since infancy - and the amazing teacher Annie Sullivan who helps Helen break through walls of darkness and silence. Both Patty Duke as Helen and Anne Bancroft as Annie Sullivan won Oscars for their performances.
Character educators Elaine Portnoy and Bob Hayes will lead a brief discussion following the film, which will be shown on a theater-size screen with theater-style seating and surround-sound at 200 Civic Center, just across from the Mission Viejo Library.
