Saddleback Art League opened its 13th Annual Juried Fine Art Exhibition “Spring Reflections” to enthusiastic reviews this month in the Mission Viejo library, 100 Civic Center.
Fifty-one artists entered the competition with 128 pieces of art in an array of media including watercolors, oils and acrylics, drawings, pastels, photography, and mixed media. Much of the artwork on display is available for sale. More than $2,500 in cash and prizes have been awarded in both the Artist and Master Artist categories. Janet Alexander, a watercolorist from Mission Viejo, was awarded Best-in-Show for her “Sawdust Birds.”
All artwork was selected by this year’s distinguished juror, Jean Stern, Executive Director of the Irvine Museum. Stern has extensive experience in the field as an author, curator, lecturer and teacher. Many of his books can be found in the Mission Viejo Library, and he will begin the Mission Viejo Art Lecture series on May 11 by addressing “The Art of Looking at Art.”
“Spring Reflections” can be viewed during regular library hours until Friday, April 6. For more information, visit www.saddlebackartleague.com.
