Several party-goers at a house party on Friday threw beer bottles at police cars that responded to the scene of the wild party that attracted about 400 people.
The incident happened around 10:00 p.m. when police received reports of a large party with an “underage” crowd at the 24000 block of Aguirre. Supposedly, the parents of host Rohn Gomez, 22, were out of town when he threw the bash, which he advertised on Facebook. As soon as deputies arrived, their police cars were pummeled with beer bottles. When they spoke to Gomez, he asked for their help in getting about 100 people to leave the out-of-control party to prevent further destruction to the home.
Several people were either issued citations or arrested. Autumn Conner, 18, was arrested for public intoxication and Jonathon Garnes, 18, for resisting/obstructing a peace officer. Gomez received a citation for the Social Host Ordinance. Mission Viejo is one of the few cities with an ordinance holding people accountable for holding parties where alcohol is consumed by minors. A hit-and-run collision report was also taken at the scene involving a 2010 Ford Focus.
