Residents and businesses on Saturday, January 21 will have the opportunity to recycle old computer monitors, televisions, cell phones and more in a free household and business electronic waste recycling drive meant to benefit the environment and Mission Viejo Library.
The City of Mission Viejo and the Friends of the Mission Viejo Library are teaming up with All Green Electronics Recycling to host the E-waste Recycle Drive from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Mission Viejo Civic Center parking lot at 200 Civic Center.
The event is designed to give residents and businesses the opportunity to properly dispose of E-waste, which includes computers; laptops; monitors; keyboards; copiers; VCR’s; fax machines; cell phones; printers; scanners; hard drives; stereo equipment; cables and cords; shredders; microwaves; and more.
As a community service, All Green Electronics Recycling will make a donation to the Friends of the Mission Viejo Library based upon the amount of materials recycled. Information about All Green Electronics Recycling is available at http://www.allgreenrecycling.com/.

I often wonder if the trend away from desktop systems towards touchpads and laptops is really a positive one. Desktop systems have modular components that are interchangeable between systems whereas laptops and touchpads are more prorietory in design and a consequently hard to recycle (working parts only being suitable for similar hardware and not usable in rival manufacturers products).
How about some lbeals for all the switches, pots, jacks, etc.? I have found that those are almost as important as the box itself.
