Community members are invited to open their hearts and wallets to benefit needy families this holiday season through an effort launched by a local business.
Quiznos Mission Viejo has partnered with South County Outreach and the YMCA to provide a Christmas dinner and donated holiday gifts for seven local families.
Everything from clothing, socks, diapers, pull-ups and boxers to books, arts and crafts, Nintendo games, toys and other items are sought for the kids who range in age from 6 months to 18. Gift cards in $10 increments to places like Wal-Mart, Target, Old Navy and gas stations are sought for the parents. Side dishes such as stuffing, potatoes, yams, canned corn and dinner rolls are needed for the Christmas dinner. The main course – toasty turkey sandwiches – will be donated by Natassia Smith, who owns the Quiznos sandwich shop with her husband.
“We know that there are many people this year with less to give than in other years, which is why we are asking for small donations and hoping for many people, so that there is plenty to go around,” she said.
Donations can be dropped off at the store located at 25800 Jeronimo Road through December 24. Folks who donate any unwrapped toy or item off this list will receive a free drink or cookie.
The store is open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Sundays. The store will be open until 6 p.m. on Christmas Eve.
