The public is invited to enjoy “Miracle on 34th Street” on Sunday, December 18 at City Hall as part of a free movie series sponsored by the City’s Community of Character Committee.  The G-rated film begins at 2:00 p.m. and highlights “caring,” Mission Viejo’s character quality for the month of December.

This beloved classic, starring Maureen O’Hara, Edmund Gwenn, and 8-year old Natalie Wood, tells the story of a department store Santa named Kris Kringle who believes he is actually Santa Claus.  The film garnered Best Supporting Actor for Gwenn as Kris Kringle as well as Best Screenplay for its delightful script.  A heartwarming celebration of the Christmas spirit, the movie ranks 9th on the American Film Institute’s list of 100 Most Inspiring Films.

Character educators Elaine Portnoy and Bob Hayes will lead a brief discussion following the film, which will be shown on a theater-size screen with theater-style seating and surround-sound at 200 Civic Center, just across from the Mission Viejo Library.

For more information about this free event, call 949-470-3094.
