La Paz Intermediate School was on lockdown today after reports of a bomb threat that turned out to be a hoax.
The incident happened around 1:45 p.m. when a student’s cell phone was stolen during lunch. A short time later, someone called 911 regarding a rumored bomb on campus.
The school was locked down and School Resource Deputies and patrol deputies responded. The stolen phone was recovered and the student who stole it was found. The student admitted it was a prank. The investigation is ongoing.

I think 30 days in juvenile hall and associated costs with police & school time lost would be about right.
I also agree with Permalink – There SHOULD be a consequence for this immature gesture, granted they are young but “threat alerts awareness” with “no tolerance” have been embedded in our children especially since Ground Zero! These students are usually 12 to 14 yrs old they know the difference between right and wrong and if they don’t, well then, it’s time they learn?
