Ultimate Fighting Middleweight Championship Contender Mark Munoz will appear at the 23rd Annual Walk Against Drugs and Community Fair on Saturday, Oct. 22.

Munoz will join thousands in the event that unites the City, Sheriff’s Department, schools, businesses and local groups with students and families to embrace a healthy lifestyle and say “no” to drugs, alcohol, and tobacco use.

While his accomplishments include an impressive 11-2 (wins-losses) record, Munoz’ commitment to working with youth to reach their goals is most impressive. His five “Drug Free D’s” to Success: Desire, Direction, Diligence, Discipline and Dedication complement the event’s “Win the fight with a drug-free life” theme and is bound to inspire many. Munoz, who lives in Mission Viejo with his wife and four kids, owns the REIGN Training Center for Mixed Martial Arts in Lake Forest.

The 23rd Annual Walk Against Drugs event, which highlights National Red Ribbon Week, begins at 8 a.m. with a 30-minute rally at Mission Viejo High School Stadium, 25025 Chrisanta Drive. Munoz will kick off the day speaking at the rally. In an effort to reach as many people as possible with his “drug free” message, Munoz will also speak at the Norman P. Murray Community and Senior Center from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 24. He will sign autographs at both events.

After the Oct. 22 morning rally, the crowd of more than 3,000 sporting red T-shirts will then walk down La Paz Road, through the Oso Creek Trail. The two-mile trek will be immediately followed by a community fair on the Village Green at Oso Viejo Park, 24932 Veterans Way. The fair will boast displays, entertainment, inflatables, games, crafts, obstacle courses, entertainment, activity booths and fun for all ages. The event will also feature fun activities catered to children with special needs. Mission Viejo school clubs and nonprofit youth groups can host fun activity booths as fundraisers for their programs. Orange County Supervisor Pat Bates will also host the 4th Annual South County Disaster Preparedness Expo: “Get Prepared: Learn How!” at the fair site.
