Residents are eligible to turn in their old gas lawn mower and purchase a newer model at a significantly reduced rate through the “Mow Down Air Pollution 2011 Electric Lawn Mower Exchange Program.”
The South Coast Air Quality Management District (AQMD) program takes place on Saturday, October 8 at Saddleback College. AQMD is another agency that the City works with to educate and encourage residents to practice good environmental stewardship.
By turning in their old operable lawn mower, residents can purchase a cordless, rechargeable, electric lawn mower at a greatly reduced price. Different models will be available for folks to choose from when they register.
Residents must make a reservation (and show proof of residency) to take part in the program.
For details – including time and exact location at the college – and to make a reservation, visit www.aqmd.gov or call 888-425-6247.

Does anyone mow their own lawn anymore? Does Mission Viejo use electric lawn mowers?
