A man was arrested at a local Starbucks on Friday after being involved in a drug deal.
The incident happened around noon inside Starbucks at the Portola Plaza when a deputy working undercover on the Sheriff’s Department Special Enforcement Team (SET) noticed a hand-to hand drug sale and arrested Erik Johnson, 23, a known parolee who police recently arrested on drug charges.
After Johnson attempted to ditch a pill bottle into the street and flee, deputies recovered several hundred dollars in cash, drug paraphernalia, and 63 heroin-filled balloons (which were in the pill bottle). Fifteen more balloons were found on Johnson when he was booked into jail. He was charged with possession of a narcotic for sales, possession of drug paraphernalia, dealing drugs within 1,000 feet of a school, and resisting arrest.
