The City is offering three free special events for entrepreneurs and business owners at the Norman P. Murray Community and Senior Center, 24932 Veterans Way.
The first event by the U. S. Small Business Administration, “Building Your Business – Turning Dreams Into Reality,” takes place from 1:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, September 29. Mayor Dave Leckness will welcome attendees who will learn how to build their business and identify company potential. Topics will also focus on sales growth and cost reduction techniques; advanced business training (available through CISCO); SBA 504 programs to finance business expansion; and effective marketing strategies.

Then on Tuesday, October 4 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., the City will host a Small Business Seminar and Resource Expo by the State Board of Equalization featuring Strategies for Success in Today’s Economy. The program features representatives from the Board of Equalization, the Internal Revenue Service, the Franchise Tax Board, the Employment Development Department, the U.S. Small Business Administration, and Coastline Institute for Economic Development. People will learn about avoiding Sales and Use Tax problems; recordkeeping and basic IRS examination procedures along with employment taxes, business ownership, loans and marketing.

Experts from the OC Small Business Development Center on October 7 will offer free one-hour coaching sessions for business success from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. This event will help established businesses grow and will give them an opportunity to sign up for a complimentary 12-month assistance program valued at $250.
