The public is invited to kick off the 3rd annual Readers’ Festival at a special performance by a legendary drummer and Grammy Award-winning vocalist at 7:30 p.m. Friday, September 30 at the Norman P. Murray Community and Senior Center.

Max Weinberg, renowned long-time drummer for Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band and the “Tonight Show” band leader is teaming up with Bill Champlin, Grammy Award-winning vocalist and songwriter, for a night of pop, funk, jazz and rock and roll. Champlin is formerly of the group Chicago and is best known for his 28 years as the band’s keyboardist/vocalist/songwriting mainstay. He is also founder and leader of the seminal 1960s Sons of Champlin. Both artists will perform select songs from their illustrious careers.

General admission is $35, with reserved and VIP seating at $45 and $70, respectively. Tickets are available at www.lordofthestringsconcerts.com or by calling 949-842-2227.

The spectacular performance sets the stage for the Readers’ Festival that takes place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. October 1 at Oso Viejo Park and the Norman P. Murray Community and Senior Center, 24932 Veterans Way.
