A man was arrested Thursday night after chasing another man with a sharp object at a local Target store.
Norman Simpson, 53, was booked into the Orange County Jail facing an assault with a deadly weapon charge after he allegedly chased another man with what appeared to be a utility knife or razor blade in the Target parking lot at Alicia Parkway and the I-5 freeway around 6:45 p.m.
When deputies arrived at the scene, the suspect had fled. The 24-year-old victim said he was involved in a road rage incident on the I-5 freeway with the man who drove a silver Honda and followed him off the freeway and into the Target parking lot. The suspect then threatened to kill the man and chased him with the sharp object. The victim was able to elude the suspect, who left the area.
Police followed up their investigation and took Simpson into custody in Laguna Niguel at 10:30 p.m.
