Volunteers remove 600 pounds of trash, debris in Mission Viejo’s Inner Coastal Clean Up Day

Armed with trash bags and a desire to benefit the environment, more than 130 volunteers on Sept. 17 helped to remove roughly 600 pounds of trash along Oso Creek during Mission Viejo’s 10th Inner Coastal Clean Up Day.

Mission Viejo’s clean-up site was one of more than 800 sites throughout the state and one of more than 50 sites in Orange County. Inner Coastal Clean Up Day is an event focused on community and residents showed their passion for volunteerism and penchant for the environment once again.

Volunteers from the Nadadores, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts, Brownies, and Lion’s Heart along with families and individuals braved the mud, muck and less-than-perfect weather to pick up trash and debris. They embraced a spirit of camaraderie, and the City is truly grateful to them all for making a difference in the community.
