Heather Vogel Frederick, a beloved author of numerous books for young readers, will join an impressive array of authors and illustrators at the Mission Viejo Readers’ Festival on October 1.
She will discuss her widely popular book, “Mother-Daughter Book Club,” which has captivated readers across the country. The story begins as a mom-inspired ritual of reading “Little Women” that soon helps four unlikely friends navigate the drama of middle school.
Heather is a former staff reporter and children’s book review editor for The Christian Science Monitor and she’s written for The New York Times, Family Life, Child, and Publishers Weekly. Her work spans several genres, from historical fiction to fantasy to contemporary realism and picture books, and has been honored both nationally and internationally.
She will join Linda Evans, the actress best known for her role on “Dynasty,” and comic actress Molly Shannon, best known for her work on “Saturday Night Live” at the festival, which is once again expected to attract readers of all ages from across Orange County and beyond.
The free festival, which is sponsored by the Friends of the Mission Viejo Library, will take place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Oso Viejo Park and the Norman P. Murray Community and Senior Center, 24932 Veterans Way. It will feature a food court, entertainment and vendors displaying an array of literature-based products. Visitors will have the chance to get up close and personal with many of their favorite authors and illustrators.
