The Orange County Sheriff’s Department will conduct a DUI/Drivers License checkpoint in Mission Viejo tonight from 6:30 p.m. to 2:30 a.m.
Checkpoints are set up to target motorists who are driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs and/or driving without a driver’s license. The program’s goal is to reduce the rate at which county residents are killed or injured. Through implementation of such checkpoints, the Sheriff’s Department hopes to significantly reduce deaths, injuries and property damage in the communities it serves.
Funding for this program is provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

Don’t you think it would be much more effective if you didn’t advertize the checkpoints?
Lets see how many hammered concert go-ers they can snag leaving the B-52s at the Lake tonight
Thank you for your interest in public safety.
The DUI checkpoints are conducted with grant money from the California Office of Traffic Safety. One of the requirements of the grant is that a press release be issued stating that a checkpoint will be occurring in the city. The exact location of the checkpoint is not disclosed on the press release.
