Senior mentors sought
Seniors are sought to give an hour of their time helping a Newhart Middle School student with homework. Mentors are sought from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. on either Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday or Friday to help jump start a successful school year for a local kid. For more information, call 949-470-3036.
Cell Phone Clinic
If your cell phone functions are a mystery, register for the Cell Phone Clinic that takes place from 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. the second Sunday of each month.
You’ll receive step-by-step instruction on the operations of your phone by members of the City’s Student Activity Committee. The service is available by appointment only, and advance registration is required.
This free program, which is from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. on Wednesdays, uses physical movement to promote mental activity while participants have fun with balance activities, partners, language, rhythm and more. It is sponsored by Healthy at Home.
Labor Day Luncheon
Kick off the holiday weekend Friday, Sept. 2 with a Labor Day luncheon at 11:30 a.m. that will feature the music of Calvin Coker.

Constitution 101
In honor of Constitution month, retired history teacher Bob Hayes is hosting a free 3-part seminar focusing on our founding documents.
Guests will receive free copies of The Declaration of Independence and the Constitution. The program is from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 8, 15 and Sept. 22. Space is limited, and registration is required.
Evening Easy Beginners Bridge Class
If you’ve ever wanted to delve into the game of Bridge, now’s your chance.
This 8-session series is designed for people who’ve never played Contract Bridge or who want to spruce up their Bridge-playing skills. The class is from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Thursdays beginning Sept. 8.

It’s Your $
Mature adults will gain invaluable advice about investments and more in this free workshop that starts on Friday, Sept. 9.
The “It’s Your $” workshop, moderated by finance expert Peter C. Kote, is from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. through Oct. 28. The workshop will give folks an objective education about their money, with information about safe fixed incomes for retired people; factors that should be considered for long-term care insurance; the difference between an annuity, variable annuity or mutual fund and much more. No products or services will be sold.

Photoshop Elements
Photoshop Elements will teach people how to digitally edit or alter a picture or photograph. Photoshop guru Art Ramirez will teach students the elements through demonstration. (Students who have laptops with Photoshop should bring them for enhanced class experience). The class is at 3 p.m. on Mondays from Sept. 12 through Oct. 10.
Cost is $10 per class or $40 for all five classes. Walk-ins are welcome.
Living Well with Diabetes
People with diabetes can obtain timely information from local health care professionals that will help them to live life to the fullest.
This free program is from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 15. Don Pereslete, DDS, will discuss dental health. Reservations are available by calling 949-470-3062.
Senior Computer Classes
Learn computer basics and Internet skills in three classes held on Fridays designed to help you navigate the computer and World Wide Web.
The classes are held at 10 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. from Sept. 16-30. Topics include computer basics (9/16); Introduction to the Internet (9/23); and Internet Shortcuts (9/30). Laptops are provided. Each class is $15 to attend. Pre-registration is required and available by calling 949-470-3062.
Western Lunch Party

Walkability Wake-Up
Meet at the Norman P. Murray Community and Senior Center for Walkability Wake-Up from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 21.
You’ll walk in beautiful Oso Viejo Park and on the Oso Creek Trail, learn how to safely walk and visit sponsor displays from the Down with Falls Coalition. The free program includes a complimentary breakfast, refreshments, prizes and giveaways.
Foreclosure Prevention Workshop
The City is teaming up with the Orange County Home Ownership Preservation Collaborative to offer a free workshop on Sept. 22 for seniors on foreclosure prevention as a service to the community.
The senior workshop will be held from 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the Norman P. Murray Community and Senior Center, 24932 Veterans Way. Registration begins at 2:30 p.m. before the programs start. The workshop will include a special Senior Resource Fair with a host of resources available for seniors from 3:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. The workshop is open to all homeowners in need of assistance.
Experts from banks and nonprofit housing organizations will provide individual counseling and other assistance for families worried about or experiencing foreclosure. Counselors will be available for confidential one-on-one meetings to offer free advice and answer questions. Homeowners can bring their loan documents and meet with lenders on site. Does Your Car “Fit” You?
In this free program, trained professionals will lead you through a 15-minute, 12-point checklist with your car and recommend adjustments and adaptations that could make it “fit” you better. A better fit means safer and more comfortable driving.

Community Outdoor BBQ
Residents are invited to a community outdoor barbecue at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 28 that will give them the chance to share ideas and concerns with members of the Recreation and Community Services Commission and the Senior Citizens Activities Committee.
