Registration is now available for a host of creative, fun and relaxing classes that kick off this fall at the Norman P. Murray Community and Senior Center, 24932 Veterans Way.
Creative Painting for Teens
Teens will enjoy tapping their creative sides in the Creative Painting for Teens class led by instructor Nancy Wahamaki. The class is from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays from Sept. 13 to Oct. 18.
Teens ages 13-19 will explore drawing and painting techniques using watercolor, pastel, colored pencil and mixed media. Wahamaki, a sculptor and painter, will work closely with students and help them develop their own individual style. Students will purchase and bring an artist’s journal to each class.

Zumba Gold
If you want to move your body in an exciting program that caters to adults of all ages and abilities, then register for the Zumba Gold class that kicks off with its first session on Sept. 7.
Zumba Gold’s moves are easy to follow and designed for participants with little exercise experience, physical limitations or inactive adults. Participants work at their own level and learn basic and advanced steps to suit their individual needs. With easy-to-follow moves, Zumba is an exciting class that emphasizes zesty Latin music in an invigorating party-like atmosphere.

Learning to Sew Kids/Teens
Kids and teens age 8 and over won’t want to miss this fun class that will teach them the basics of sewing.
The class is on Wednesdays from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Sept. 14 to Oct. 12.
Students will learn sewing basics, fabric selection and how to follow a pattern and complete amazing projects in class. No prior experience is necessary, and all fabric, notions and sewing machines are supplied.

Cake Decorating
Adults who’ve always wanted to learn the art of cake decorating won’t want to miss this class that takes place from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 25.
The class, which is perfect for those who want to have fun or pursue a professional cake decorating career, will teach students how to decorate a cake with stunning roses, leaves, floral sprays, grapes, shells, borders, clowns, stars and more.
Students should bring a 3” high 8” round Duncan Hines white cake on a 10” cake board.

Yoga Classes
Residents looking to unwind and stimulate their body and mind should sign up for the Everyday Yoga, Gentle Flow or Restorative Yoga classes with instructor Vidya.
Everyday Yoga is on Tuesdays from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Sept. 13 to Nov. 15 and on Thursdays from Sept. 15 to Nov. 17. The class incorporates basic and intermediate poses connected through a flow sequence to build strength and increase fitness. This class is suitable for all levels and is particularly great for someone new to yoga.
The Gentle Flow class is on Tuesdays from 5:15 p.m. to 6:15 p.m. Sept. 13 to Nov. 15. The class incorporates gentle yoga poses to relax the body and relieve muscle tension and stress.
Restorative Yoga is on Thursdays from 5:15 p.m. to 6:15 p.m. Sept. 15 to Nov. 17 and includes music, candle-light meditation and breathing work to quiet the fluctuations of the mind, with an emphasis on stretching and relaxing.
Cost is $60 for five classes or $100 for 10 classes. Classes are open to people age 16 and over. Participants should a bring yoga mat and blanket.
