Community members opened their hearts and wallets and donated more than $4,140 in a car wash fundraiser on Saturday, Aug. 20. The event was hosted by the City’s Marines & Sailors Adoption Committee to support Mission Viejo’s adopted troops.
About 50 Marines and Sailors from Truck Co. Bravo, a division of the Headquarters Battalion of the First Marine Division, washed about 100-plus cars at the Mission Viejo Civic Center. They chatted with residents who were only too happy to support the cause and feast on pancakes, bacon and hot dogs prepared by the Mission Viejo Activities Committee. Many residents also purchased T-shirts, hats, military coins and dog tags. All proceeds support the Headquarters Battalion of the First Marine Division.
