Children with special needs and their families are invited to a free “Family Picnic” and the screening of “Rio,” a popular animated 2011 movie, on Friday, Aug. 26.
The event, hosted by the Mission Viejo Community of Character Committee, is from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Norman P. Murray Community and Senior Center, 24932 Veterans Way.
Visitors should bring a picnic blanket to enjoy pizza, root-beer floats and more on the Village Green. The PG-rated film will follow on a large screen in the community center’s Sycamore Room.
Gluten-free pizza and soy ice cream floats will be available.
