Police are searching for two African American men who stabbed a jewelry store vendor and then robbed him of more than $10,000.
The incident happened at around 12:20 p.m. today when a 66-year-old man left Saatchi Jewelry in the shopping center at Marguerite and La Paz and was approached by two men wearing “hoodies” as he got into his car. One suspect shattered the man’s passenger window, while the other slashed his left rear tire and cut his left hand with a knife. The suspects then forced the man to hand over $10,000 in cash, his Rolex watch, and 10 rare coins before fleeing in a late-model silver Jaguar or similar type of vehicle that was last seen heading down La Paz toward the freeway.
The man was transported to Mission Hospital and treated for a laceration to his hand. Investigators responded to the scene, along with forensics to collect evidence. Anyone with information is asked to call the Orange County Sheriff’s Department – South Investigations at 949-425-1900.
