Saddleback College Emeritus Classes
The fall semester of Saddleback College Emeritus classes begin Aug. 22. Classes include Aerobic Exercise; Art History; Beginning Practical Spanish; Chair Exercise; Current Issues in Government; Film as Literature; For the Love of Music; Introduction to Creative Writing; Opera; Quilting & Patchwork; Sequential Stretching; Yoga Fitness; and Voice and Rhythms.
Free balance screening
If you are interested in learning tips for preventing falls and about balance solutions, plan to obtain a free 4 to 7-minute balance screening and consultation offered on the first Friday of each month.
An Orthopedic Clinical specialist from Balance Rehabilitation offers screenings and consultations to help people maintain their balance. The screening is from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. at the community center. Appointments are not necessary. For more information, call 949-470-3062.
Evening Trail Walks
The Senior Citizens Activities Committee is leading leisurely strolls along the picturesque Oso Creek Trail at 5 p.m. on Tuesdays. The public is invited to enjoy the trail walks, meet new friends and embrace the natural environment.
Grand Gatherings
Grandparents and their grandchildren are invited to bond during exciting free theme parties that include crafts, games, refreshments and costume contests.
The fun-filled free parties take place from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday Aug. 3 and Aug. 10. The parties are planned by the National Charity League (Canyon Chapter) moms and daughters.
Kids ages 3-7 and their grandparents will embrace Cookie Monster Mayhem on Aug. 3; and Bring Your Pet Day on Aug. 10.

Keep Your Driver’s License workshop
Reservations are available for the Aug. 4 “Keep Your Driver’s License” workshop designed to help seniors pass and retake their driver’s license test.
Led by Richard Kohr from the Department of Motor Vehicles, the free Thursday workshop takes place at 1 p.m. Reservations are required and are available by calling 949-470-3062.
Mission Viejo Lake Cruise & Potluck
Enjoy the best that summer has to offer by taking a relaxing cruise at 5 p.m. Friday, Aug. 12 around Lake Mission Viejo.

Living Well with Diabetes
People with diabetes can obtain timely information from local health care professionals that will help them to live life to the fullest.
This free program is from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 18. Registered nurse Jane Hanna will lead the program with discussion about the “Diabetic Map.” Reservations are available by calling 949-470-3062.
Aloha Luau Lunch Party Aug. 19
Wear your Muumuu or Hawaiian shirt to enjoy a midday Luau at the community center on Friday, Aug. 19.
This fun-filled luncheon, which kicks off at 11:30 a.m., will treat guests to a true island paradise complete with Polynesian cuisine and dancers in a lush environment.

Middle Eastern Twilight Dinner
The Middle Eastern Twilight Dinner takes place Sunday, Aug. 28, offering the public a delectable taste of traditional Middle Eastern fare, music and fun.
The dinner starts at 4 p.m. and guests will enjoy the rich flavors of Middle Eastern cuisine served up with a healthy side of music and belly dancers from Rhythms of the Desert.
