If you are seeking a cornucopia of food, fun and music to satisfy any palate, then don’t miss this year’s Prelude in the Park “Hometown Block Party” on July 30.
The fun kicks off at 4 p.m. on the Village Green at the Oso Viejo Park and sets the stage for the Target Symphony in the Cities concert at 7 p.m.
Foodies will savor Orange County burger maestros TK Burger’s classic burgers and sides and delectable hot dogs from Jerry’s Wood-Fired Dogs. Kettle Corn Express will sell tasty popcorn, and adults can enjoy a wine and beer garden hosted by the Rotary Club of Mission Viejo. Those with a sweet tooth can satisfy their cravings with a refreshing dessert from the Just Chillin’ Ice Cream truck or a red velvet mini “bundtlet” cake from Nothing Bundt Cakes.
Worries of such indulgence will quickly fade for folks who participate in a host of fun activities and games including chin-ups with the City’s Marine Adoption Committee and a cake walk and game that tests people’s pitching skills. A balloon toss, photo booth and more will add to the excitement.
Later on, youngsters will enjoy making their own musical instrument and beating on a drum at the Musical Playground, which begins at 5:30 p.m. After the games are over, the acclaimed Pacific Symphony hits the stage at 7 p.m. in a performance that is sure to delight and entertain. This year’s concert includes the Southern California Children’s Chorus and Pacific Symphony Youth Orchestra Cellist George Ma.
Oso Viejo Community Park is at 24932 Veterans Way.
