The City’s Marines & Sailors Adoption Committee raised $3,600 during a car wash event on Saturday, June 25 to support members of the Headquarters Battalion of the First Marine Division.
About 50 Marines and Sailors washed roughly 100 cars at the Mission Viejo Civic Center and chatted with residents who were only too happy to support the cause and gobble up home-baked goods.
Proceeds will help send much-needed items to deployed Marines; make baby baskets and host a baby shower for expectant mothers; coordinate an annual “Day at the Lake” for Marines and their families; and offset the cost of entry-level Marines and Sailors to attend the annual Marine Corps Ball in November. Funds will also help provide emergency assistance to Marines and their families.
