The Mission Viejo Activities Committee is hoping residents will reach into their hearts and wallets and support the shattered survivors of the tornado that ripped through Joplin, Missouri in May.
The nonprofit organization is collecting donations for the “Mission Viejo Supports Joplin” fund. One hundred percent of an individual’s donation will go directly to Joplin, Missouri to help in the rebuilding of the tornado-savaged community. The death toll from the May 22 tornado has reached 153, according to a recent report.
“Although we are miles and miles away, we can show our support,” said Cathy Allen, chair of the committee’s July 4th event. “Who knows one day we may be the city in need. If every resident of Mission Viejo (there are 100,000 residents) gave just $10, think of the difference Mission Viejo could make.”
