If you’re interested in learning how to speak Tagalog, one of two official languages of the Philippine region, or other languages such as Italian or Chinese, then take advantage of a free program offered through the Mission Viejo Library.
Similar to the Rosetta Stone system, the Mango Languages resource is a self-paced, online interactive language learning system that covers more than 20 languages including Farsi; Spanish; Chinese; Japanese; and Italian, and ESL (English as a Second Language). Mango is free for all Mission Viejo Library patrons and offers a fast and convenient solution for the community’s increasing language-learning needs. In fact, Mango just celebrated Philippine Independence Tag (Day) this month by launching the new Tagalog course, which will have residents sharing in the Filipino culture from afar in no time.
Each online lesson builds conversational skills and incorporates grammar and vocabulary. The interactive element allows students to move along at a comfortable pace with a narrator guiding the learner through correct pronunciation.
To access Mango Languages, patrons must use their Mission Viejo Library card to log in and get started at http://cmvl.org. For more information about this free online program, call the Mission Viejo Library at 830-7100, extension 5105. Information is also available at http://mangolanguages.com.
