The public is invited to take part in the City’s 5th annual Junior Wheelchair fundraiser June 26 at the Marguerite Tennis Center.
The Wimbledon-themed Junior Wheelchair Camp fundraiser is from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the 23840 Marguerite Parkway. Novice and experienced tennis players alike are sought for this fun, social round-robin tournament that includes an exhibition match by the UCI Men’s Tennis Team, prizes, gifts, contests and a barbecue lunch.
The event will raise funds for the upcoming July wheelchair camp for junior tennis players from North and South America. The wheelchair camp, which is put on by the United States Tennis Association and the International Tennis Federation, is the only one of its kind in the nation. It is designed to teach and train advanced to beginner wheelchair-bound juniors on the sport of tennis. Since it began in Mission Viejo five years ago, it has doubled in size and has helped to put Mission Viejo on the international map.
Cost to take part in the fundraiser is $50 per team or $30 per person. Donations are also welcome to support the cause.
To register, contact Brian Gruner at 949-859-4348 ext. 5761 or bgruner@cityofmissionviejo.org.
