Author Josephine Angelini received a raving LA Times review of her debut novel “Starcrossed,” which she will share with the Mission Viejo community on June 9.
The spellbinding contemporary fantasy novel for teens that entwines Greek mythology with forbidden romance was compared to the popular “Twilight” and “Percy Jackson” by book reviewer Sonja Bolle.
“The second book in this series, “Dreamless,” is slated for May 2012 — not soon enough, as far as I’m concerned, Bolle wrote Sunday. I haven’t wanted a second book so much since ‘The Hunger Games.’”
Angelini will appear in Mission Viejo’s popular Writers Present program at 7 p.m. in the Heritage Room of the Mission Viejo Library at 100 Civic Center.
Her journey to becoming a published author is an inspirational rags-to-riches story that starts when she fell into dire financial straits after quitting her day job to pursue writing and ends with the purchase of the “Starcrossed” trilogy in an incredible seven-figure deal by HarperCollins. Hailed as the next Stephenie Meyer or J.K. Rowling, Angelini is one to watch.
The presentation will include a Q&A period with the audience and will be followed by a book signing. Books purchased at the event will be available for signing.
This program is sponsored by A Whale of a Tale Bookshoppe and the Friends of the Mission Viejo Library. Reserve your seat for this free event by e-mailing atran@cityofmissionviejo.org or calling 949-830-7100 x5105.
