When it opens sometime next year, a new LA Fitness will be the second largest tenant – after Edwards movie theater – in the Kaleidoscope entertainment and retail center.
The Planning and Transportation Commission on Monday gave the fitness facility the green light to add 28,251 square feet to the 217,811-square-foot entertainment center on Crown Valley to make way for a facility that will include a pool, spa, saunas and racquetball and basketball courts.
The 46,430-square-foot fitness center, which will be mainly housed in the space formerly occupied by Bristol Farms, will convert the space and a loading dock below into a full-service gym. Customers will access the facility on two separate levels at Kaleidoscope. The club will include free weights, a cardio area and aerobic rooms. Established in 1984, LA Fitness operates more than 362 clubs in the US and Canada. Another Mission Viejo LA Fitness, which is currently under construction in the former Mervyn’s space at Alicia Town Center, is expected to open in August.
Commissioners on Monday also approved a remodel at the McDonald’s on Santa Margarita Parkway in the Portola Plaza shopping center. The fast-food eatery, which has been housed in the 4,413-square-foot facility since 1987, will add 162 square feet to the building, reconfigure the drive-through and make other site and landscape improvements.
The Mission Viejo Planning and Transportation Commission meets at 6:30 p.m. on the second and fourth Monday of the month in the Council Chamber located at 200 Civic Center. For more information, visit the City’s website at http://cityofmissionviejo.org.
Happy to see new business going in there or anywhere for that matter. They run a class business and if any gym will work it will. Seems tough for a lot of businesses to make it in that location so I wish them luck. I am happy to see new and improved businesses moving into our County, thats for sure.
