Author Josephine Angelini will appear in Mission Viejo’s popular Writers Present program on Thursday, June 9 to discuss “Starcrossed,” a spellbinding contemporary fantasy novel for teens.
The 7 p.m. presentation takes place in the Heritage Room of the Mission Viejo Library at 100 Civic Center.
Angelini’s journey to becoming a published author is an inspirational rags-to-riches story that starts when she fell into dire financial straits after quitting her day job to pursue writing and ends with the purchase of the “Starcrossed” trilogy in an incredible seven-figure deal by HarperCollins. Hailed as the next Stephenie Meyer or J.K. Rowling, Angelini is one to watch.
Pitched as “Percy Jackson for teenage girls,” the novel is a modern-day reimagining of “The Iliad.” “Starcrossed” hits bookstore shelves on May 31, but the Mission Viejo Library is offering the opportunity for five lucky readers to win a rare advance copy of the book before its official publication date. The raffle is open to all ages and runs until May 23. Stop by the Library’s Reference Desk to enter.
Angelini’s presentation will include a Q&A period with the audience and will be followed by a book signing. Books purchased at the event will be available for signing.
This program is sponsored by A Whale of a Tale Bookshoppe and the Friends of the Mission Viejo Library. Reservations for this free event are available by e-mailing atran@cityofmissionviejo.org or calling 949-830-7100 x5105.
