Thousands of City’s adopted Marines & Sailors enjoyed day at the lake Saturday

Roughly 1,500 Marines and Sailors and family members visited Lake Mission Viejo on Saturday for an enjoyable afternoon at the picturesque lake.

The annual Family Day at the lake, hosted by the City’s Marines and Sailors Adoption Committee, was designed to demonstrate support for the City’s adopted Marines and Sailors and give them and their families a chance to relax and have fun.  And on this day, everyone seemed to do just that. They feasted on a delectable barbecue lunch with all the tasty sides and enjoyed boating, outdoor games and soaking up the rays throughout the day. Fishing lessons proved popular for fishing enthusiasts and novices alike, while the opportunity to unwind with family and friends at the tranquil lake was embraced by all.

Once again, community members rallied around the City’s adopted troops by donating more than 5,000 cookies for them to enjoy during the annual spring event.  Sweet donations poured into City Hall from countless gracious residents and organizations such as South Orange County Young Marines, Saddleback United Soccer, Moms Club of Trabuco Canyon and South Orange County Navy Moms, to name a few.

The Headquarters Battalion of the First Marine Division and City of Mission Viejo are truly grateful for the community’s never-ending support and thank the Lake Mission Viejo Association for its hospitality and beautiful venue.
