The Mission Viejo Community of Character Committee is seeking local talent of all types and ages to compete in the 2nd Annual Mission Viejo’s Got Talent show this June.
The talent competition is a fundraiser for the committee’s Relay for Life at Mission Viejo “Goin’ Bananas for a Cure” team. Also dubbed “Performance with a Purpose,” this event gives community members an opportunity to take part in the 17th annual Relay for Life at Mission Viejo weekend fundraiser that benefits the American Cancer Society.
Auditions for the talent contest will be held on April 15 and April 29. The $25 application fee per act helps to cover the cost of the program and benefits the Relay.
The semi-finalists will appear at the Shops at Mission Viejo for a presentation on May 21 in the parking lot near Farrell’s Ice Cream Parlour. The winner will then be crowned on June 4 at Relay for Life at Saddleback College.
Last year’s competition attracted auditions from people ages 4 to 80. The final event dazzled a crowd of more than 300 people who voted for their favorite talent, and PKSA’s Elite Demo Team took the title and bragging rights.
Winning talent will also be invited to perform at the City’s 23rd Annual Walk Against Drugs on October 22. That event draws about 5,000 people each year.
