It was a Girl Scout ritual of moving from one rank to another. On Sunday, “Junior” Girl Scouts from Troop 1509 crossed the bridge to become “Cadettes” in a Sunset Bridge Hike along the Oso Creek Trail.
The moment – on the trail bridge – was significant for these young ladies, who have gone up the ranks in the scouting program together beginning as Brownies. Each girl is committed to giving back to the community.
Council Member Trish Kelley took part in the ceremony by placing the “Cadette Vest” on each girl after she crossed the bridge.
“This is a wonderful day and a notable accomplishment for each of these inspiring young ladies who are committed to community service and giving back,” Kelley said.
After the ceremony, the girls hiked along Oso Creek Trail to celebrate their accomplishment and had fun making their own sandwiches – compliments of Manager Josh Eiler – behind the counter at Jersey Mike’s Subs on Marguerite Parkway.

Thanks to our city for being involved in things like this… kudos to Councilwomen Kelley!
Thank you Councilmember Kelley and Jersey Mike’s for making the day so special!!
