Residents – specifically those in the area west of Lake Mission Viejo off Vista Del Lago and Marguerite Parkway – are asked to use extra caution when walking on trails, after Mission Viejo Animal Services received a reported sighting of a mountain lion in the area on Thursday.
Animal Services has been in contact with Fish and Game, which has the ultimate authority to investigate and/or remove wildlife such as mountain lions and bobcats. Residents are asked to be cautious and aware if walking on the trails in the area. Please report any sightings immediately to Animal Services at 470-3045.
Tips for avoiding mountain lions and other wildlife are available on websites such as the California Department of Fish and Game at http://www.dfg.ca.gov/.

For those of us not totally familiar with all the neighborhoods in Mission Viejo, can you be more specific – perhaps cross streets?
West of Marguerite, S/W of Vista Del Lago
I posted signs at the entry points to the trail in the area. I was a bit surprised that the city had not posted signs.
