As a result of the recent heavy rains, a mudslide caused the closure of the SR 241 during the holidays. In order for the contractor to complete the temporary repairs to the roadway, a full closure of the Northbound 241 from the SR 133 to the SR 261 is tentatively scheduled for Sunday, January 9th from 8 p.m. to midnight.
Since there will be a full closure, traffic will be detoured. Northbound SR 241 traffic approaching the closed segment will be routed to southbound SR 133 where they can exit at Irvine Boulevard, turn right to Sand Canyon Avenue, turn right to Portola Parkway, turn left on Portola Parkway and continue westerly until they reach the SR 261 where they can head north to join the SR 241.
Northbound SR 133 traffic wanting to use the northbound SR 241 will be directed off at Irvine Boulevard where they will be directed left to Sand Canyon Avenue, right to Portola Parkway and left to the SR 261 where they can re-enter northbound to reach the northbound SR 241.
If all the northbound lanes are able to be opened to traffic through the work area, the contractor will be performing intermittent daytime lane closures next week from 6 a.m. until 5 p.m. to allow for adjacent work.
