The Mission Viejo Library was awarded a $15,000 grant from the state for a program designed to help people obtain careers.
The Library Services and Technology Act grant will fund the library’s “Score Your First Job/Making the Most of your College Degree/Recareering Bootcamp” program.
The grant – developed by Library Manager Stephanie Tanton – will fund a series of workshops led by human resources and career specialist Gretchen Thompson. The workshops will target specific job-seekers and provide tools and information including resume building, searching strategies and interviewing skills. The library is expected to offer the free workshops beginning in March.
Along with the workshops, the library will also receive funding to renew its subscription to the popular “Career Connections” online database.
The Mission Viejo Library is at 100 Civic Center. For more information, call 949-770-8100 or visit www.cmvl.org.
